  • Electrode paste is a paste-like substance that is made by binding solid carbon materials with a binder. It begins to soften at around 60℃. The solid carbon materials include electrically calcined smokeless coal, residual carbon blocks, petroleum coke, graphite fragments, etc., which are oxidation-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and conductive carbon materials. The binder is medium-temperature coal tar pitch.

     

    Working Principle

    The product is added to an electrode shell made of steel plate. After energization, the resistance heat generated causes it to be sintered and carbonized into an electrode. The electric furnace uses a lower voltage and a higher current, which is delivered to the furnace through the electrode. The electric arc generated by the electrode end and the molten material in the furnace convert electrical energy into heat energy for high-temperature smelting. As smelting progresses, the electrode is gradually consumed.

     

    Product Applications

    Electrode paste is mainly used in the ferroalloy and calcium carbide smelting industries for use in large electric furnace self-baking electrodes.

     

    Precautions

    Because the electrode is the heart of the electric furnace, it directly determines the efficiency and survival of the enterprise. Therefore, the storage conditions are very strict. It requires a separate dust-free storage warehouse. Use as much as needed and strictly prohibit large-scale storage in the roof paste area. Strictly control the height of the paste column according to the size of the electrode diameter, and add electrode paste evenly according to the situation each shift.
